Over the weekend, 2013 United States Disc Golf Champion Steve Brinster hit a major milestone, recording his 100th career PDGA victory at the New Jersey Jam.

“The ‘Joisey’ Jam will always hold a special place in my heart because it’s where I played some of the first events of my career,” Brinster said. “Starting back in the 1970s, ‘The Jam’ is one of the longest-running tournaments in the country. I captured my second career win as an advanced player back in 1996 at the Jersey Jam, and now my 100th win marks a great milestone for my career.”

More than 200 players are in Emporia, Kansas to take part in the 2019 PDGA Junior World Championship and through two days the kids have proven to be alright.

Actually, they are much better than that. They are downright great.

After three rounds, Zach Arlinghaus leads Junior <18 by three strokes at 24-under par 152 total and is averaging 1021-rated golf. He’s got the current hot round at the event, a 1039-rated second round at Peter Pan Park. Not to be outdone, Junior Girls <18 leader Melody Castruita is averaging 76 points above her rating, including a 968-rated third round.

  20. Paul McBeth Breaks Highest PDGA Player Rating Mark

Photo: Alyssa Van Lanen – PDGA

With today’s July 2019 PDGA player rating update, we have a new all-time highest player rating. Paul McBeth saw his rating jump three points to 1057, which beats the previous record of 1056 held by…Paul McBeth.

McBeth has averaged 1062-rated golf since the June rating update and has three wins and a second place finish to his name over the past month. How has he done it? Well, his stats tell the tale: he gets to the green in fewer throws than anyone else out there. When other players are throwing their upshot, he’s putting.

  26. Philo Brathwaite Gets His Albatross Destroyer Back

    Photo: Flight Record

Did you know Philo Brathwaite had been missing his famed Albatross Destroyer for more than two years?

Well, breathe easy, as the disc has made it back into the hands of Brathwaite thanks to Oregon’s Colin Walker. As Brathwaite tells it, Walker spotted the disc in the hands of a new player on the day after the 2017 Beaver State Fling, and after two years of searching, Walker got the disc back to Brathwaite.

“He was there when a new player (not in any clubs or even social media) found it on 6 West — yes, the same hole,” Brathwaite said. “I remember that call and calmly sifting thru my bag thinking it’s right here, then quickly feeling very stupid and confused when it was not. How could I leave that disc on the same hole, or anywhere?”

  30. Eagle McMahon Withdraws From Ledgestone Insurance Open

Eagle McMahon Withdraws From Ledgestone Open

Eagle McMahon withdrew from the Ledgestone Insurance Open with a right shoulder injury on the tee of hole 16 during round one.

“It kinda started yesterday. There were some slight indications of a little bit of a shoulder impingement,” McMahon told Terry Miller during the livestream. “I was kinda battling this earlier this year, but Disc Golf Strong was able to bring it back and make it feel a lot better. But I threw a big forehand yesterday and it started acting up there. I didn’t really get that much time to warm-up because of the weather delay. As the round progressed it just slowly came on.

“It never got too bad, but it’s just there, and I know it’s not going to get better if I keep throwing.”
