Drew Gibson smashing TV with Frisbee

Hey, it’s Drew Gibson smashing a flat screen TV with a Frisbee. This is exceptional #QuarantineContent. We have no choice but to Stan.

We would have preferred to watch this attempted with an old tube TV,1 but this is fun regardless.

Drew has been on his hiatus grind, turning out a bunch of video on his YouTube channel. It’s definitely worth the follow.

  10. PDGA Asks Players To Not Go To Courses, Parks Close

    Photo: Reddit user FL2NH

The PDGA Board of Directors President Justin Menickelli sent a message to members yesterday covering the organization’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and urging players to stay away from the disc golf courses.

From the statement: “While we know you want to be out playing right now, we need your help to set a good example for communities everywhere. That is why we are asking disc golfers to skip the course and stay home. It is something we all have the power to do in this crisis, and while it may seem like a tall task, we are confident it is the best choice to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. This goes for the young and healthy, as well as those considered more vulnerable.  We are all in this together.”

  13. Paige Pierce Is Out Here Risking Her Airbnb Rating During The Coronavirus For You

    Paige Pierce Airbnb

I hope everyone at home is appreciating what the touring pros are out here doing during the play stoppage to keep you entertained.

Take Paige Pierce and Alyssa Van Lanen for example. The reigning world champ and disc golf’s premier photographer got unceremoniously dumped from their lodging by an Airbnb host for simply trying to get the best shot for a YouTube thumbnail.

Pierce is risking the all-so important user rating on an app for #content and we couldn’t be more grateful.

  14. PDGA Extends Sanctioning Suspensions Through End Of April

The PDGA is extending its suspension of event sanctioning through at least April 30, 2020.

Earlier this week, the Santa Cruz Masters Cup PDGA National Tour event scheduled for May 15 was cancelled, and the Women’s Global Event on May 9 was postponed.

The PDGA Medical Committee continues to make recommendations based on current World Health Organization and Centers For Disease Control and Prevention guidance. (more…)

  16. World Champ Des Reading To Undergo Hip Replacement Surgery

    Des Reading

Disc Golf Hall of Fame inductee and three-time world champion, Des Reading, will undergo a total hip replacement next week. Reading has had ongoing issues competing with the injured hip, including withdrawing from the 2018 Professional World Championship in Vermont.

Throwing golf discs is not a natural body movement, any kinesiologist will tell you,” said Reading in a statement. “One has to remember that in my prime as a second generation touring professional disc golfer — 2002-2011 — disc golf was still in its infancy as far as competitive standards with varying tee pad surfaces, multiple rounds per day, and wild terrain.”

Reading continued: “ The tournament courses are getting longer and longer. At least the sport has mostly moved to one round per day. I believe the PDGA is working toward treating the athletes with more respect for their bodies and performance levels when it comes to creating and enforcing playing surfaces or conditions, but there is more work that needs to be done.”

  17. Twitter Finds Way To Insult Bills Mafia By Invoking “WTF Richard”

    Tweet from @Kofie

NFL free agency is about the only game in sports right now, and Twitter used one of disc golf’s finest viral moments to lob some banter in the direction of the Buffalo Bills and starting quarterback Josh Allen.

A quick catch-up, former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs was sent to the Bills in a trade. Not everybody online believes in Bills QB Allen’s accuracy. Thus Richard was invoked.
