2025 Fandom Survey: The Most Popular Discs

And what's the most popular disc in each slot?

With more than 2000 PDGA-approved disc molds from roughly 200 different disc golf brands, players have no shortage of options for building their bag. But which discs reign supreme? 2024 was the first year that we asked Fandom Survey respondents, “What is your favorite disc mold?” For the 2025 survey, we included this question alongside an expanded set of questions and analysis on the topic of discs, so we are devoting an entire article to it!

To start off this article, we asked the exact same question from last year: “What is your favorite disc mold?” We received over 7,000 responses!

  • 617 different molds were chosen with 435 of those molds selected by multiple people.
  • These 617 molds were made by 54 different brands/manufacturers.

Without further suspense, let’s see the data! Here are the Top 10 most favorited discs:

Top 10 favorite discs

  • For the 2nd straight year, the Discraft Buzzz was the most favored disc mold by Fandom Survey respondents.
  • However, we did see a shake-up in the Top 3: the Innova Destroyer moved from 4th (2024) to 2nd (2025), pushing the Discraft Zone and Innova Wraith down a spot.
  • Although not in the Top 3, MVP/Axiom is the manufacturer of five of the Top 10 favorite discs (Top 11 with ties).
  • Two MVP molds moved into the Top 10 this year. The MVP Trail was released in the summer of 2024, around the time the 2024 Fandom Survey was open. To go from being outside of the Top 100 favorited discs in 2024 to 6th place this year is quite a feat. Will this surge continue next year? The MVP Wave also moved into the Top 10, after ranking 13th in 2024.

As noted, we asked this question for the first time in 2024 and we can now provide some data on how these favored discs have changed over the past year:

Change in Favorite Discs

  • The MVP Trail stands alone with a change greater than 0.7%, jumping more than three times that amount!
  • The Discraft Luna, popularized by the YouTube battle series between Paul McBeth and Anthony Barela (and a hyped disc release), made the 3rd largest jump since 2024.
  • Some disc molds were released between the 2024 and 2025 Fandom Surveys. Of these molds, the Discraft Cigarra (0.26%) was selected the most and appears as the 8th largest increase on this chart. The next most selected “new” mold was the Streamline Range.

What is the speed of the selected favorite discs?

Speed of favorite disc

  • Five-speed discs are by far the most commonly favorited, highlighted by the fact that two of the Top 5 favorited discs are 5-speeds: Discraft Buzzz and Axiom Hex.
  • We rounded down for discs that were half-speeds. For example, the Axiom Crave is listed as a 6.5-speed but is represented in the previous and following graphics as a 6-speed.

Below, we grouped responses by disc speed to see which molds were most favored for each speed. This chart answers the question, “among respondents whose favorite disc is an X-speed, which mold was selected the most.”

Here is a speed-by-speed breakdown of changes from last year:

1: Kastplast Berg retains the top spot with the Kastplast BergX replacing the Innova Polecat.

2: Innova Aviar retains the top spot with the Axiom Pixel replacing the Innova Rhyno.

3: Axiom Envy retains the top spot with the Axiom Proxy replacing the Latitude 64 Pure.

4-7: Unchanged since last year!

8: Latitude 64 Diamond becomes the most selected 8-speed. It overtakes the Discraft Passion which falls completely out of the Top 3 and is replaced by the Discmania Essence.

9: Unchanged since last year!

10: MVP Trail becomes the most selected 10-speed. It overtakes the Dismania PD. The Discraft Anax falls off the chart as well.

11: Innova Wraith retains the top spot with the Innova Mamba replacing the Latitude 64 Grace.

12: Innova Destroyer retains the top spot with the Discmania DD3 replacing the Discraft Thrasher.

13: Unchanged since last year!

14: Latitude 64 Ballista Pro retains the top spot with the Latitude 64 Ballista replacing the Westside Destiny.

Now, let’s group the favorite discs by manufacturer. In total, there were 54 different brands that had at least one selection in the 2025 Fandom Survey for this question.

Favorite Disc Manufacturer

  • An Innova mold was selected by 28% of respondents as their favorite disc.
  • In total, 10 brands received over 1% of the responses for respondents’ favorite discs and these 10 brands accounted for 92.7% of all responses.

How has this changed since last year?

Change in Favorite Manufacturer

  • MVP sees the largest jump! This is likely driven by the emergence of the MVP Trail as a Top 10 favorite disc, but also indicates that the selection of the Trail was not only from respondents who already favorited an MVP disc.
  • Despite accounting for over one-quarter of all responses in 2025, Innova sees the largest drop in selections since last year. This mirrors what was seen when asking about “Who is your favorite manufacturer?” in the 2025 survey.

In addition to the question, “What is your favorite disc mold?”, we also asked a subset of respondents five additional questions about their preferred discs:

  1. What putter do you putt with?
  2. What is your favorite throwing putter? (Speed 1-3)
  3. What is your favorite midrange (Speed 4-6)
  4. What is your favorite control driver (Speed 7-10)
  5. What is your favorite distance driver (Speed 11-15)

We asked these questions this year to get a clearer understanding of the preferred disc of most major disc types. As shown by how many respondents’ favorite disc was a 5-speed, when forced to select only one favorite disc, respondents may be biased to select certain speeds. Here, we can look at specific classes of discs in isolation. Here are the Top 10 responses to each question!

Putting Putter

  • 10 different brands are represented in the Top 10!

Throwing Putter

  • Axiom with the top two spots!
  • Note: Discraft Zone is a 4-speed but was still selected by 4.2% of respondents for their favorite 1-3 speed disc.

Mid-range

  • A gap of over 10% separates the Discraft Buzz and Axiom Hex from the rest of the list!

Fairway Driver

  • Innova has 5 of the Top 10 control drivers. This is an impressive feat considering their different molds are competing against each other among fans of the manufacturer.
  • Not only is the MVP Trail the biggest year-over-year increase in favorite disc, but it also soars to the top of most favorited control driver.

Distance Driver

  • The Innova 11 and 12 speed pair of the Wraith and Destroyer are the only molds to eclipse 10% of responses. Innova holds five of the Top 10 slots of this list too.
  • Note: the MVP Trail is a 10 speed, but was selected by over 2% of respondents for their favorite distance driver.

Next Time

The next article in the series will look into disc purchasing and usage. Which manufacturer’s discs are in our respondents’ bags? Which tour series discs have they purchased in the last year? Stay tuned to find out how you compare to the rest of the disc golf community.
