2025 Fandom Survey: Disc Golf Purchasing Trends

Which players have the most popular tour series discs?

In our last Fandom Survey article, we presented the results on our favorite disc molds. Here, we share data related to the discs, bags, carts, and shoes that survey respondents purchase and use out on the course.

First, let’s look at what manufacturer/brands respondents have in their bag:

Manufacturer Bag Percentage

  • Three-quarters of respondents indicated that they bag at least one Innova mold. Discraft and MVP round out the three most common brands found in respondents’ bags.
  • How many respondents bag at least 1 MVP or Axiom disc in their bag? 67.8% – which would still be 3rd on this list.
  • How do these rankings compare to last year? For manufacturers in the Top 10, Axiom passed both Latitude 64 and Discmania, moving from 6th to 4th. As well, Westside surpassed Prodigy moving from 10th to 9th.
  • Streamline saw the largest change year-over-year, moving from 12% to 18%. Will they crack the Top 10 next year?
  • Respondents could also list brands that were not included among the survey options. The three most frequently mentioned brands, Prodiscus, Legacy, and Hooligan, were referenced by 0.5% to 1% of respondents.

How does the year we started playing disc golf relate to the brands we carry in our bag?

Bag x years playing

  • Regardless of when a player started playing, Innova retained the top spot, with the highest percentage of respondents bagging their discs.
  • For many brands, there are small trends in this graph. Some manufacturers like Innova and Dynamic Discs are more likely to be found in the bags of respondents who started playing disc golf many years ago. On the other hand, brands like MVP, Axiom, and Doomsday are more likely to be found in the bags of newer players.

There may be situations where respondents have a disc mold in their bag that has been there for many years, but don’t bag newer molds from the same manufacturer. To better parse out which brands are currently generating excitement and disc sales, we asked respondents which brands they have purchased in the past year.

Purchase disc

  • Again, Innova takes the number 1 spot, but unlike the in-the-bag question, the combined “MVP or Axiom” grouping would narrowly take the lead with 66% of respondents having purchased one of either of those brands.
  • MVP (3rd in 2024 to 2nd in 2025), Axiom (5th to 4th), and Streamline (11th to 8th) all see positive year-over-year jumps in this chart.
  • In its first year of production, Climo Discs emerged in 19th at 8.4%. Our survey was completed in the summer of 2025, as new molds, plastics, and marketing were still being rolled out by this new brand. It will be interesting to see where they fall in 2026!
  • What were the most purchased brands by players who started playing in the last two years? (1) MVP, (2) Innova, and (3) Discraft.

To better understand disc purchasing trends, we also asked whether players were buying more or fewer discs than in previous years. The distribution of answers can be found here. This question is likely heavily affected by how recently you started playing disc golf, amongst other factors. To help interpret these answers, we asked follow-up questions to understand what was driving their changes in disc purchasing habits.

Why More

  • Over half of respondents attributed playing more than last year as the factor most driving their disc purchasing increases.
  • Interestingly, nearly one-quarter of respondents who bought more discs than last year indicated that frequenting a local disc golf store was, at least somewhat, a contributor to this increase.

Why Less

  • Nearly three-quarters of respondents indicated that their decrease in disc purchases was driven by already having all the discs they need.
  • Around 23% of respondents indicated that changes in their financial situation were a contributing factor to their change in purchasing habits.

Manufacturers sell tour, signature, and commemorative discs for touring professionals that they sponsor. We asked respondents which players they had purchased these types of discs from in the past year.

Tour Series Purchases

  • The Top 5 players remain in the same order as last year, with Simon Lizotte and Kristin Lätt being the only players for whom over 20% of respondents indicated they purchased a tour, signature, or commemorative disc from. Unsurprisingly, these were the most selected MPO and FPO players when respondents were asked for their favorite player
  • Silva Saarinen soared into the Top 10! She moves from 59th on this list in 2024, all the way up to 6th, with 11.9% more respondents indicating they purchased one of her discs. The combination of her MVP sponsorship and her first major victory catapulted her into the top echelon of players.
  • Also new to the Top 10 in 2025 – Anthony Barela (up 5 spots and up 4.6% since 2024) and Gannon Buhr (up 9 spots and up 4.1% since 2024).
  • Large jumps were also seen from both Eveliina Salonen (up 26 spots and up 4.1% since 2024) and Ezra Robinson (up 49 spots and up 3.4% since 2024) as they both cracked the Top 25 for 2025 sales.
  • Aaron Gossage (rank: 21st) is the player who appears highest on this chart who changed primary manufacturers this off-season (Discraft to MVP).

We also asked about sales of tour and signature series discs this year from various “disc golf personalities” who are not primarily known for their touring efforts.

  • Less than 20% of respondents had purchased a disc from a disc golf personality.
  • The most selected, Brodie Smith, had roughly 7% of respondents purchasing his disc. Anthony Bodanza was next highest at 4.3%.

There are many factors that go into purchasing a disc. It’s possible that some of these sales may be driven by the run of disc, the specific color/plastic combination, or some other factor. To account for this, we asked a question this year to gauge how important the touring player was in the sale of the tour, signature, or commemorative disc. From the answers to this question, we generated a “weighted” version of the above graph that incorporates this question. This graph can be viewed here.

  • Players who have a better “adjusted rank” than their “purchase rank” indicate that they outperform their peers in being important to the sale of the tour series disc. Some notable examples of this are:
    • Silva Saarinen (rank 6 overall, but 4th in adjusted).
    • Ohn Scoggins and Ezra Aderhold (each up 5 spots) both move into the Top 15.
    • The largest jump in the Top 30 was from Erika Stinchcomb, jumping up 10 spots from 37th to 27th.
  • Players who have a better “purchase rank” than their “adjusted rank” indicate that there are likely other factors driving the sale of their tour series disc that may not be fully attributed to the player themselves, like disc mold, stamp, or plastic. Some notable examples are:
    • James Conrad (9th in purchase rank, but 18th in the adjusted rank).
    • A handful of Discraft-sponsored players had drops in this metric with Chris Dickerson (down 8), Adam Hammes (down 13), and Paul Ulibarri (down 5) all seeing drops.

Let’s finish off this article with a couple other key disc golf essentials that we have out on the course! What were the most used bags, carts, and shoes from Fandom Survey respondents this year?
