And how do fans consume disc golf content?
January 19, 2026 by Jesse Weisz and Josiah Zoodsma in Analysis

This article focuses on the data we gathered on disc golf media beyond live and post-produced coverage, along with ancillary questions about how closely individuals follow the sport and their opinions on key institutions. If you would like to learn more about the survey and the demographics of the respondents, please read this accompanying article.
There are other sources of disc golf media that aren’t directly linked to live or post-produced professional disc golf tournament coverage. We asked respondents on which platforms they consume disc golf content, which is reflected in the chart below.
What platforms do you consume other disc golf content
- Nearly all respondents (97.1%) indicated that they consume disc golf content on YouTube and more than half consumed disc golf content on Instagram.
- When compared to last year’s results, disc golf podcast consumption decreased by a surprising 12%!
Digging further into these platforms, of respondents who indicated they listened to podcasts, we asked which podcasts they listened to.
- Foundation had the two most listened to podcasts of 2025, Griplocked and Tour Life, with both attracting an impressive 56% of respondents who listen to podcasts. Debate Night and In the Bag were two other Foundation Podcasts that made the Top 6.
- 74% of Tour Life listeners also listen to Griplocked, which is the largest shared audience among respondents.
- The Upshot was the third most listened to podcast. For those who are curious, 55% of respondents who listen to the Upshot also listen to Griplocked, while 57% listen to Tour Life.
For a subset of respondents who listened to podcasts, we then asked which podcast was their favorite.
- The Upshot, co-hosted by Ultiworld publisher and DGN commentator Charlie Eisenhood and Josh Mansfield, was the most-favored podcast in 2025.
- It is worth noting that Ultiworld, the parent company that produces The Upshot, partners with FAR to release this series of articles on the Fandom Survey. While we try to promote our survey widely across all disc golf media, there may be an enrichment of Upshot fans because of this.
- In second and third place were two of Foundation’s podcasts: 1) Griplocked with hosts Trevor Staub and Hunter Thomas, and 2) Tour Life with hosts Brodie Smith and Paul Ulibarri. These two podcasts likely split the votes of the Foundation listener base.
- Simon Lizotte, Eagle McMahon, and Joey Temali host Crushed Pepper, the fourth most popular podcast. An impressive debut on the survey for a podcast that launched at the start of 2025.
- In fifth is the All Birdies No Bogies podcast, a Jomez-produced podcast hosted by Brian Earhart and Nate Perkins.
Moving on to your favorite YouTube channels:
- Almost one-third of the survey respondents selected JomezPro as their favorite YouTube channel, dwarfing all other post-produced coverage providers.
- By far, Simon Lizotte had the most selected channel for a professional player and was second overall to JomezPro.
- Foundation had the third most popular channel, and collectively, these three responses represented over 60% of the total responses to this question.
And lastly, Instagram:
- DGN/DGPT and their post-produced channel, Jomez, had the first and second most-favored Instagram accounts.
- Disc golf shop franchise Another Round had the third most popular account.
- Simon Lizotte had the most popular channel for a professional player, followed by Silas Schultz and Anthony Barela.
Since the start of the Fandom Survey in 2022, we have asked a few questions each year to quantify changes over time. First, how happy are respondents with the governing institutions of our sport? We asked respondents what they thought of the PDGA and DGPT.
What do you think of the DGPT and PDGA
- In 2024, the average rating for the DGPT and PDGA was 7.68 and 6.57, respectively.
- In 2025, the DGPT averaged 7.67 and the PDGA averaged 6.85, indicating that the DGPT’s approval stayed pretty much the same and the PDGA approval marginally improved.
We also asked, how closely do you follow the MPO and FPO divisions?
How closely do respondents follow MPO and FPO
- As was the case last year, this year’s survey respondents followed MPO more closely than FPO; 70% of respondents indicated that they follow MPO very closely, giving scores of 8-10, while only 45% of the respondents indicated that they follow FPO very closely.
For a broader view, every year for the past three years we have asked respondents if they are following disc golf more or less closely than the previous year.
Compared to last year, how closely do you follow professional disc golf?
- The most frequent answer for the past three years was that respondents have followed professional disc golf roughly the same amount; 40.9% of respondents indicated a 5 in 2025, which is roughly the same proportion we observed in 2024 and 2023.
- 45.1% of respondents indicated that they were following disc golf more closely in 2025 compared to 2024, while 14% of respondents indicated that they were following disc golf less closely. In comparison, 41.7% of respondents indicated that they were following disc golf more closely in 2024 relative to 2023, while 17.8% of respondents indicated that they were following disc golf less closely.
This question is prone to sampling bias, as the less you follow disc golf, the less likely you are to know about the survey or care to fill it out. This year, to help provide context to the answers for this question, we asked a subset of respondents a follow-up question, asking why they followed disc golf more or less closely.
- Becoming more invested in the players was a factor for over half of the respondents who found themselves following disc golf more closely in 2025.
- Becoming more involved in local disc golf communities was the third most selected factor, showing a clear link between the growth of the sport locally and engagement with the professional side of the sport.
- For nearly two-thirds of respondents who are following disc golf less closely, one of the factors was a lack of free time.
- Interestingly, this does not parallel the reasons why respondents followed more closely, as only 28% of respondents said that having more free time led to their increased involvement, making it the fourth most selected reason.
- For roughly a fifth of the respondents, becoming less invested in storylines was a factor.
