A 17-year-old just beat out a field of past world and European champions, while holding off a furious final round comeback from another up-and-coming pro, to win the Disc Golf Pro Tour Q-Series Blue Ridge Championship.
Kylie Kohut won the FPO division in Marion, North Carolina, by one stroke over Taylor Chocek, due in no small part to leading the field with the lowest bogey and double-bogey rate. It’s the teenager’s third professional A-tier victory, and it comes just a week after accepting her first cash with a 10th place finish at the DGPT Elite Series Queen City Classic. Kohut earned a spot in Charlotte by winning the Monday qualifier over four other players.
“I took down my second FPO A-tier, but this time I can actually take the money!” she wrote on Instagram. “This was a huge confidence boost after accepting cash last weekend and I can’t wait to see what else I can accomplish!”
The 930-rated thrower’s first A-tier win came at last year’s River City Open and included an eagle on a perfectly executed hole 7 and playoff win during the final round.
Kohut is from Highland, Michigan and has spent the past two years on MVP Disc Sports’ Discovery Team. Her younger sister, Peyton, also plays and hit an ace at the 2025 PDGA Amateur World Championships >while Kylie was also on the card. Kylie finished fourth in that event; Peyton took second after forcing a playoff. Kylie has finished in the top 10 at eight different amateur and junior PDGA majors.
The next time we’ll see Kylie on the pro circuit will be at this July’s PDGA United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah.
