The “Holy Shot” will be the highlight everyone remembers for disc golf eternity. James Conrad’s entire final round at 2021 Pro Worlds was impressive enough to earn him the 2021 Men’s Performance of the Year.

Conrad went into the final round trailing Paul McBeth by one stroke. He’d already aced on the Fort course earlier in the week, and was matching McBeth (and for a time Kevin Jones) shot-for-shot down the stretch during the final round.

Before the impossible 247-foot throw-in birdie on hole 18 to force a playoff with McBeth, Conrad had rattled off four straight birdies as part of a bogey-free back 9. And as fortune would have it the playoff for a world championship would start back on hole 16.

In three play-throughs of hole 16 up to that point, Conrad had one ace, had parked the basket, and earlier in the round hit an easy 15-footer for birdie. Conrad capped off a career day with another metal flash and tap-in win.

Others Receiving Votes…

Only one staff writer voted against Conrad at Pro Worlds, with a nod going to Niklas Anttila’s entire effort at the European Disc Golf Championship.
