Prodigy Disc Europe announced today that Väinö Mäkelä has signed a three-year sponsorship contract extension, keeping him with Prodigy through 2023.

Finland’s highest-rated player, Mäkelä won the 2020 Kuopio event on the Prodigy Disc Pro Tour in Europe and finished first in Finland’s National Pro Tour standings, one point ahead of Niklas Anttila. Before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down international travel between the US and Europe, he played some early season events stateside and got a top 5 finish at the Memorial.

Mäkelä was under contract with Prodigy through 2021 but signed an early extension. “It is a great honor for us to continue cooperating with Väinö in the coming seasons,” said Prodigy Europe.

“This is just the beginning,” Mäkelä said in a statement.
