Eagle McMahon Signs Five Year Contract with MVP

The biggest free agent of the offseason lands at the buzziest brand in the sport.

In the final blockbuster sponsorship move of the offseason, Eagle McMahon agreed to a five year contract with MVP Disc Sports, reuniting the two-time major champion with his former Discmania teammate Simon Lizotte.

MVP, which also owns the Axiom and Streamline brands, announced the Eagle signing with some misdirection — most people online expected the company to announce the release of Lizotte’s new putter, the Pixel, after an extended Instagram marketing campaign. They did announce the Pixel — sort of:

MVP Eagle Announcement

“For the last nine years, every time Eagle has stepped onto the course he’s been a threat to win,” said MVP in a statement. “His talent is off the charts, but his desire to be the absolute best he can possibly be is his real secret weapon. A thirst for competition, the passion to work tirelessly, and an unwillingness to cut corners, are all things that MVP saw in Eagle that we pride ourselves on too. To say Eagle is a tremendous fit at MVP would be an understatement.”

McMahon becomes the winningest player on the MVP roster, having claimed 13 Elite Series and Major events in his career, more than all active MPO players besides Paul McBeth (57) and Ricky Wysocki (39). “I truly could not be more thrilled about this new endeavor in my professional disc golf career,” he said. “MVP has so much to offer. Despite their massive rise in the past few years, they still have their noses to the grindstone and are set on new heights.”

MVP has exploded in popularity over the past four years, riding James Conrad’s Holy Shot into a sales boom that fueled the shock signing of Simon Lizotte to a 10-year deal last offseason. The buzz of the Lizotte signing and the newly created Simon Line of discs had retailers sold out of popular MVP molds for weeks at a time in 2023.

With McMahon, MVP gets another hugely popular disc golfer with even more winning pedigree than Lizotte, who himself has eight tour wins, tied for ninth-most all time with Nikko Locastro. Terms of the new contract were not disclosed.
