Gannon Buhr, the 18-year old wunderkind who won three DGPT Elite Series events in 2023 after winning his first major in 2022, has signed a three year endorsement deal with Discmania, the company announced over the weekend.

Discmania had previously pursued Buhr when the young Iowan was seeking to leave his Prodigy contract a year early, but that was put on hold when Prodigy sued Buhr and eventually settled as Buhr agreed to play out the final year of his contract. Discmania beat out multiple other manufacturers in the battle to sign Buhr in recent weeks; the terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“Words can’t describe how excited I am for my next chapter in disc golf!” said Buhr on Instagram.

Buhr told The Upshot podcast that he would be getting a Creator Series disc sometime in 2024, and that Signature Series discs were on the way as well.

“Working closely with our players to Reinvent, create high performance equipment, and share their talent with the world is an honor and a passion for us here at Discmania,” said the company in a press release. “We know working together with Gannon to accomplish our shared goals holds nothing but success in 2024 and beyond!”

It’s a time of significant change at Discmania — the company lost its two most prominent sponsored athletes, Simon Lizotte and Eagle McMahon, to MVP in the last year, and the Finland-based manufacturer was acquired by House of Discs, the conglomerate that also owns Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, Westside Discs, and Kastaplast.

The company will now feature Buhr and Kyle Klein, both USDGC champions, as its two top players on the Sky Team, the highest tier of sponsorship support. Both are under contract through the 2026 season.

Discmania also announced earlier today that it was signing Alden Harris, a DGPT Silver Series winner and close friend of Buhr, to a two year contract through 2025.
