The disc golf world was treated to more live disc golf yesterday as The Memorial Championship kicked off at Fountain Hills as part of the first Disc Golf Pro Tour event of the season. The DGPT even let you, the fans, pick out who you wanted to see on the live feature card, and there’s already some post-production footage up from round 1, too.
Fans chose wisely in terms of selecting four players known to make spectacular shots: Ricky Wysocki, Paul McBeth, Eagle McMahon, and Simon Lizotte certainly did not disappoint. Let’s check out some highlights from the feature card via SmashboxxTV and the Nate Doss, Cale Leiviska, Paul Ulibarri and Izak McDonald card shot by Prodigy Disc Video, listed in no particular order below.
Lizotte was on yesterday with his long hyzers. Here he is parking his upshot on hole 2 and doing the same from the tee on hole 17:
McMahon, Lizotte’s teammate, was not to be out done. How about this drop in birdie on the 400-foot hole 18?
And these two birdie putts, one, a death putt after barely staying in bounds on hole 7 and then splitting the trees on hole 17:
The veterans showed up, too. Here’s McBeth hitting the basket off the tee on hole 12:
A little later in the round he hit a nice straddle putt around some trees on hole 15:
Landing tee shots close and sinking obstructed putts was just as easy for Wysocki, especially here on hole 14:
The feature card didn’t have monopoly on great shots, though. Leiviska made this long, downhill putt from 50-feet on hole 4. He finds himself tied for second and one stroke back from the lead, playing on the lead card.
And McDonald threw in this long putt on 18 to cap off his round:
Need more? Full round feature card coverage is up now at via Smashboxx’s new Smashcutt, while Prodigy Disc Video has the Leiviska card.
Live action of round two of The Memorial kicks off today at 4 p.m. EST.
