One of today’s two scheduled rounds is already in the books at the Beaver State Fling, and some familiar names are already atop the leaderboard.
Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki tossed matching 9-under par 52s at Milo McIver State Park’s Riverbend East Course to take the early lead in the Open division. Wysocki’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the 850-foot, par 5 hole 6, while McBeth went bogey-free through the first 17 holes. Anthony Barela, Nate Doss, and Eagle McMahon are tied for third place after their 8-under par 53s, while Zach Melton took sole possession of sixth place with a 7-under par 51.
On the women’s side, Paige Pierce fired off a 3-under par 58 at the Riverbend West course to take a one-shot lead over Catrina Allen, who threw a 2-under par 59 to kick off the festivities. Jessica Weese sits in third place after a 3-over par 64, while Sarah Hokom and Lisa Fajkus are tied for fourth place with 4-over par 65s.
The second round finds each division swapping courses and begins at 2:30 p.m. Pacific. PDGA Media is on hand with real-time scoring and updates in 140-character form.
A previous version of this article stated that Paige Pierce had eagled hole 14 during round one. PDGA live scoring was updated, and she took a par. As a result, we have removed that sentence.
