2021 PDGA Rookie of the Year Ella Hansen has agreed to a two-year contract extension with her manufacturing sponsor Discmania, keeping her with the company through 2023.

“Being a full-time professional athlete has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and I’m so grateful to Discmania for helping that dream come true,” she wrote on Instagram.

Hansen plans to be on full-time tour this year, traveling in a mini van across the country. She easily won the Rookie of the Year award in 2021, claiming three top 10 finishes at Disc Golf Pro Tour stops and a third place finish at the US Women’s Disc Golf Championships, a major.

“I had goals for last year and kind of eclipsed them quickly,” she told Ultiworld Disc Golf. “So I’m hoping I can set goals this year and eclipse them quickly.”

Those goals? “I’d like to win one or two Elite Series events or Majors, and I think that I can.”

Hansen started playing competitive disc golf in 2020. She is already one of the most powerful throwers in FPO: she finished third in the Pro Worlds distance competition behind Paige Pierce and Jen Allen. She said she has been focusing this offseason on her putting, approach shots, and forehands.

She will have at least two special releases from Discmania: a rookie of the year disc and a tour series disc.
