Westside Discs announced on Instagram that Nikko Locastro won’t return as a sponsored player in 2022, despite the fact that he signed a two-year extension through 2023 at the beginning of the year.

Locastro won two Elite Series events while representing Westside: the 2020 Preserve Championship and 2021 Waco Annual Charity Open.

“The turning of the new year will usher in a new chapter for Team Westside Discs,” the company wrote on Instagram. “Westside Discs and Nikko have made the decision to part ways effective 2022. We would like to thank Nikko for his past two years on Team Westside Discs.”

Locastro’s departure extends a burgeoning trend of pro players leaving contracts early. He has had a winding sponsorship path that included many years with a mixed bag.

Neither Locastro nor Westside has responded to a request for comment.
