After months of speculation and rumors, Eagle McMahon has officially confirmed his departure from Discmania, his sponsor of nine years throughout his entire professional career thus far.

McMahon signed with Discmania in 2014 as a 16 year old; in the above video, he says he turned down better offers to sign with Discmania because he had a “gut feeling” that it was the right fit for him. Nine years later, he says he has that gut feeling again, but now it is telling him to move on.

“My entire journey into adulthood has been shared with Discmania’s,” wrote McMahon on Instagram. “My identity in disc golf has always been tied to Shield, which fills me with nostalgia. Countless incredible moments have been shared with the company. I owe them an immeasurable amount because without their support, I wouldn’t be close to where I am today. I am so immensely grateful for the incredible times and achievements we’ve shared together. We’ve truly grown together side by side over the last decade and I have so much love for everyone who has been involved with Discmania. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

“First and foremost, we want to thank Eagle for representing The Shield on and off the course,” said Discmania in a statement. “His contribution to both Discmania and the sport of disc golf as a whole is immeasurable. We will forever be grateful for his nine historic years on Team Discmania.”

During his Discmania tenure, Eagle won 13 Elite Series events on tour, including two Majors — the 2022 European Open and the 2018 Konopiste Open. Only Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki have won more Elite Series events in MPO since 2015. McMahon’s departure marks the end of an era for Discmania, who saw their other “crush boy,” Simon Lizotte, leave the company in similar fashion last offseason when he signed a 10 year deal with MVP.

McMahon has not yet announced a new sponsor for 2024.
