Matt Orum, fresh off of winning the first Elite Series event in his long career, is re-signing with Westside Discs for four years. The manufacturer announced the extension in a YouTube video:
This is the first significant player signing under the new House of Discs umbrella ownership. House of Discs owns Latitude 64, Dynamic Discs, Westside Discs, Discmania, Kastaplast, and some smaller disc golf brands.
“Matty O is a household name who has been a disc golf pioneer transcending the game we all love for over a decade,” said Westside Discs team manager Jesse Arzola. “His tenacity and love for the game is contagious. We are thrilled to be able to work towards having Westside Discs and Matty O become synonymous, and we look forward to this partnership for years to come. On behalf of Westside Discs and all the Westside Fans, we declare Four More Years!”
Orum finished the 2023 season 6th in the DGPT standings, setting a new high-water mark after finishing 8th in 2022. He also won the MVP Open, ending his status as the highest-rated player not to have won an Elite Series or Major event.
He becomes the first top 10 player in either division to make a sponsorship announcement this offseason.
