Feldberg A No-Go For GBO, Out Until Worlds

Dave Feldberg is a late scratch for this weekend’s Glass Blown Open and will not participate, he confirmed to Ultiworld Disc Golf.

The 2008 Professional Disc Golf Association World Champion has been battling a bulging disc in his neck since February and had hoped to play after having an epidural injection about two weeks ago. A more thorough diagnosis, though, revealed two herniated discs that are pinching a nerve and flattening his spinal cord. He is now facing surgery, but is expecting to be back in time for the PDGA World Championships in August.

“I can not physically throw, for real,” Feldberg said in a text message. “I got the shot with hopes to play, drove all the way to Kansas and really believed I could do it.”

In the end, the pain was too much.

“I tried to throw and I saw white stars in my backswing and almost passed out,” Feldberg said. “I played with a broken hand and foot in the past, but with this I literally can’t throw.”

Feldberg finished in second place at last year’s Glass Blown Open.
