The biennial Women’s Global Event grew to more than 2,100 players in 2018, hosting tournaments in 14 countries and 39 states. Of the 81 individual events, a Pennsylvanian in neighboring New Jersey made maybe the weekend’s biggest highlight.
Playing at the Ladies of Stafford Woods with 40 other women, Margaret Sassaman took a wide route to the right off the tee over a small water carry on the 224-foot hole 3, threading a few guardian trees to hyzer directly into the heart of the basket for the smooth ace.
“Go in, go in,” whispers can be heard on the Gatekeeper Media video as the disc is about halfway down the fairway. “That’s got a shot,” someone else says before the chains ring out. Sassaman can also be heard on film excitedly saying it was her first ace and a tournament ace at that.
Sassaman finished third in Open Women. She tied for the hot round in the final throwing 70 points over her rating.
