Paul McBeth is the proud new owner of a convertible McLaren 570S Spider, a luxury sports car that sells at retail starting at $208,800.
McBeth shared a picture of both a delivery trailer and the 2019 model year McLaren — black with red trim — on his Instagram story. McBeth confirmed to Ultiworld Disc Golf that he bought the car new from a dealership in Michigan, where Discraft is headquartered.
The 570S Spider base model has a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine with 562 horsepower at 7500 RPM, featuring a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It goes from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds with a listed top speed of 204 mph. Unlike some other McLarens, it is street legal, so perhaps you’ll see McBeth roll up to a tournament in it some time.
“The COVID year let me know this may happen again, so if I’m home, I want something fun,” he said. “Plus, we have beautiful mountain roads that are perfect for cruising on.”
It’s a long way from McBeth’s first vehicle: a 1978 Dodge Ramcharger with the roof cut off.
McBeth said that he has a name for the McLaren, but you’ll have to guess at what it is.
