Devan Owens was a late scratch from the 12 p.m. card of the opening round at the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship.
Owens was registered as one of 16 Open players vying for the eight available spots in tomorrow’s quarterfinals. When reached for comment, Owens said he was unable to catch a flight from Tulsa to Jacksonville in time.
The DGPT Championship was limited to 32 Open spots for 2018 after opening up to the top 50 point-getters in 2017. Last year’s event saw many players drop leading up to the event. The DGPT added a $500 prize for all players that compete in the event to entice stronger attendance.
