USWDGC heading to Missouri, Wisconsin in '27, '28
January 19, 2026 by Charlie Eisenhood in News

Late last week, the PDGA announced the location of the 2028 World Championships and many additional 2027 and 2028 Major locations.
The 2028 PDGA Pro Worlds will be held in Lynchburg, Virginia, returning to the area after a successful 2024 Worlds debut. The 2024 Worlds courses — Ivy Hill and New London Tech — have continued to appear on tour as a part of the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship and this spring’s Champions Cup, another PDGA Major, and will be the 2028 Worlds courses as well. Nate Heinold will TD the tournament again, and 2028 will mark his third time in 5 years (’24 Virginia, ’26 Michigan, ’28 Virginia) as the World Championships TD.
Notably, Heinold’s 2028 bid to run the event went unopposed.
2027 European Open Set for Ale in Sweden
After a huge 2025 European summer, there were lots of questions about where the 2027 European Open, the name newly licensed from Discmania by the PDGA, would be hosted. We now have the answer: the iconic Ale Disc Golf Center in Nol, Sweden. One of the world’s top ranked courses, the “White” layout at Ale will serve as the host for the 2027 pro Major. Ale played host to a DGPT event this past summer; Niklas Anttila and Silva Saarinen won the tournament. Erik Mellgren will serve as the TD.
USWDGC Headed to Missouri in 2027, Wisconsin in 2028
The US Women’s Disc Golf Championships will be held in Columbia, Missouri, in 2027, with Harmony Bends expected to host the FPO competition. Adam Morrison will serve as the TD.
In 2028, the tournament will head back to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, after a successful tournament there in 2025. A new course on a recently acquired plot of land at the Ariens Nordic Center will be installed by Cale Leiviska in time for the 2028 event. Lindsey Krause will serve as the TD.
No Announcements about Champions Cup
The PDGA did not give any information about the Champions Cup for the next two years. Long-term, the PDGA wants to bring the tournament back to the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Georgia, but course restoration work following the closure of WR Jackson continues.
