Ian Anderson Out as Commentator, Terry Miller Leaving Booth in DGN Shakeup

Miller will still serve as an on-course reporter; Nate Perkins filling play-by-play role

Disclosure: The author has been a freelance commentator on the Disc Golf Network since 2021 and will be returning to the broadcast booth in 2026.

Since its launch in February 2020, the Disc Golf Network has been the primary home for live coverage of professional disc golf on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. The DGPT-owned platform has featured familiar commentator talent over the last five years, with few major shakeups to the core broadcast pairings. That’s set to change in 2026.

Long-time play-by-play commentator Ian Anderson, who also runs the YouTube disc golf media platform Central Coast Disc Golf, has not been invited to return in 2026, and Terry Miller, another staple play-by-play voice, has been informed he will be exclusively used as an on-course reporter for DGN in 2026. Additionally, the veteran FPO color commentator Juliana Korver has decided to step away from broadcasting on DGN this year.

According to sources familiar with the situation, DGN is trimming its budget and seeking to reduce the amount of travel required for its broadcasters. The commentary teams will now be centralized in Bend, Oregon, in the home studio at Nate and Valarie Doss’s house (a mainstay of DGN broadcasts for years), and in Charlotte, North Carolina, in Brian Earhart’s home studio. Nate Perkins, who lives in Bend, is expected to become the lead play-by-play voice alongside Nate and Valarie Doss on MPO and FPO color, respectively. The MPO commentary star Nate Sexton, also from Oregon, will continue to appear in the Bend broadcasts.

In Charlotte, Charlie Eisenhood will be the primary play-by-play broadcaster, traveling from New York City, primarily working with Brian Earhart in MPO and Sarah Hokom in FPO. The popular Esa-Pekka Tupala will continue to serve as the play-by-play voice for European events. Former world #1 Kristin Lätt is joining the booth as an FPO color analyst for some events in Europe this summer.

Philo Brathwaite and Des Reading will also return to the booth in 2026.

In past years, commentators have been on site at more tournaments, but finding a suitable location can be a challenge and the travel budgets can swell. Cutting down to home studios makes the engineering easier for DGN’s staff while minimizing flight and hotel expenses. (A handful of events, including Worlds and USDGC, will still have on-site booths.)

DGN leadership also sought to reduce the number of primary commentary teams this year as the number of live events has shrunk since 2023. With those factors in mind, along with Ian Anderson’s location in California and Terry Miller’s in Wisconsin, they opted to consolidate to two primary American teams. Miller will still be heavily involved on DGN live from events as an on-course reporter.

“My dream scenario is that the booth is on-site, but, with that, I also understand that it adds five more layers, frustration, and expense to the mix,” said Miller in an interview. He added that he would prefer to call some events from the booth and others from the ground but said, “I’ll work with anyone, at any time, and in any role.”

Perkins, long the on-course reporter for DGN, has experience in the broadcast booth on post-production coverage as well as some DGN shows, but live play-by-play will be a new chapter for his media career. Perkins co-hosts a disc golf podcast with Earhart (All Birdies, No Bogeys) and has a strong knowledge of pro players and the current competitive landscape.

Anderson said in an interview that he is disappointed not to be returning to DGN. “I’m definitely bummed,” he said. “It’s just one of those jobs you take that’s never going to last forever, but I thought it would last a little longer.” He expects to spend more time creating content for Central Coast, including more west coast regional A-Tier coverage at Masters Cup and Beaver State Fling, and starting a new podcast with Cory Murrell. He didn’t rule out a return to DGN in the future if the opportunity becomes available. And he’ll never forget James Conrad’s Holy Shot. “I got to call the coolest moment in sports history,” he said. “Literally the coolest moment that will happen in sports in my lifetime.”

No 2026 DGN contracts have been signed yet, so some shifts are still possible, though the broad structure of bicoastal booths is unlikely to change.

The first DGN coverage of the season, from the DGPT Supreme Flight Open in Florida, starts on February 27th.
