Round 3 Recap
July 19, 2025 by Josh Mansfield in News, Recap

After three days of talent consolidation at the top of the leaderboard, the world’s top ranked players, Kristin Latt and Gannon Buhr, have ascended to the top of the field at the European Disc Golf Festival.
Lätt shot a 1026-rated eight-under par, one off of the hot round, to climb to 15-under par total. Silva Saarinen was poised to to close the gap to one to finish the round, but a three putt from circle 1 on the 18th green gave Kristin three strokes to work with on championship Sunday. Detractors will be quick to reference the 16 stroke lead that Kristin nearly gave away here two years ago at the European Championships, but that story would be told in a vacuum. Kristin looked confident today. She looked like she was having fun. With the 3,750 spectators on the course today, Kristin seemed to be feeding on the energy, rather than withering before it.
Lead card is rounded out by Ella Hansen, who shot the hot round nine-under par today, and Valerie Mandujano, who shot five down to correct her tournament after a lackluster followup on Friday to her stellar round one. Both Hansen and Mandujano sit five strokes back of Kristin.
Missy Gannon and Holyn Handley sit at -9 and -8, respectively, both feel like their tournament chances hinge on getting a lot of help from the people above them.
The rest of the top 10 features Cadence Burge and then three more Europeans (Keiti Tatte, Henna Bloomroos, and Jenni Karppinen).
Eveliina Salonen’s putting woes reared their ugly head today. She went 11/20 from C1, including a three putt on hole one that seemed to disrupt her entire round.
In MPO, Gannon fired a sparkling 14-under par to get himself a share of the lead for championship Sunday. He erased a five stroke deficit to Isaac Robinson to match his total score of 37-under par after Robinson shot a lackluster 9-under on Saturday.
Calvin Heimburg wasn’t quite as hot as he was in round two, shooting a 12-under par with one bogey. While still a strong round (1078 rated), he still lost several strokes to Buhr and couldn’t quite catch up to the leaders; he’s one shot back. Paul McBeth set the current course layout record with an 1108-rated 16-under par for the day. He is within four strokes of the lead, but it seems like he and Niklas (also at -33) are going to need some help in order to make a challenge for the win. While they both have the capacity to shoot strong double digit rounds under par, it will require the current leaders to have some ill-timed bogeys in order to catch them.
Both divisions have top talent in position to challenge the world’s best, including a tied-for-the-lead Isaac Robinson. But if Kristin and Gannon shoot their game and stay out of danger, there is a strong chance of them walking away with their first majors of the season.
