Round 2 Recap
July 19, 2025 by Josh Mansfield in News, Recap

There are two players who have made a name for themselves by winning on the biggest stages. Both have won majors this season. And those two players are in the lead. The rest of the field should be worried.
Isaac Robinson capped off an explosive, bogey-free day with a brilliant ace on hole 18 to push his round to an 1101-rated 15-under par, tied with Calvin Heimburg for the hot round of the day. The ace opened up the largest lead of the tournament for Robinson: three strokes. If Isaac wins this weekend, he will have won 5 of the past 10 majors. In order to secure his win this year, though, he will have to fend off the best in the world who sit right behind him.
The six players at the top of the leaderboard are a reorganized top six of the PDGA World Rankings. Anthony Barela sits three back, with Calvin Heimburg, Gannon Buhr, and Niklas Anttila each one stroke back of the player before them. Six strokes may feel like a chasm, though, when you’re chasing a player who hasn’t relinquished a lead at a major since his first win at the 2023 Champions Cup.
In FPO, “Big Money” Missy Gannon looks to take down another massive payday. In Elite Series and Majors, Missy ($179,248) trails only Kristin Latt ($215,989) in total earnings from wins. The difference is that Kristin has won 27 times to Missy’s 13. Missy performs best when the lights shine the brightest.
Kristin made a charge on Friday, though, shooting the hot round and earning herself a spot back on the lead card. She finds herself in a log jam of players at 7 under par that Missy is going to have to fend off. Along with Lätt, Cadence Burge, Eveliina Salonen, Silva Saarinen, and Keiti Tatte all sit just one stroke behind the leader.
Much like MPO, the top players in the world are the ones who sit at the top of the leaderboard. The notable absence is Holyn Handley, who shot a 5 under to get herself within six of the lead, though time is dwindling for her to make a charge for the win.
The lead card, who all played well above their rating yesterday, regressed on day two. All shot over par today, though each player managed to stay in the top 11.
Quick Hits
- There are more Estonians (3:Latte, Tatte, and Allsalu) than there are Americans (2: Gannon, Burge) in the top 7. Tournament organizers are expecting a massive influx of spectators with the home team playing well going into the weekend.
- In addition to Isaac’s spectacular ace, Simon Lizotte aced hole 8. Both will receive shoes of their choice from Nike, a sponsor of this year’s event.
- The weather continued to be hot and windless. Expect the same conditions over the next two days.
- Three holes (2, 4, and 11) feature alternate pin positions for round three. All are expected to increase the difficulty of the hole, particularly on hole 2, where the pin moves to a heavily sloped green.
