The 2023 PDGA Pro World Championships are set to pay out the largest purse in the tournament’s history this year.
The PDGA and Disc Golf Pro Tour co-announced that the tournament’s prize pool will be at least $275,000 “thanks in large part” to the financial contribution of the tournament’s presenting sponsor L.L.Bean.
“This is a big moment for the sport,” said Worlds TD and DGPT CEO Jeff Spring in a statement. “L.L.Bean is a legendary outdoors company and a fantastic fit as a partner and supporter of disc golf. I’m proud of the work we’ve done at Smugglers’ Notch and in the professional disc golf community to reach this moment. The support that L.L.Bean’s partnership provides will help this year’s World Championships reach new heights.”
The DGPT has featured sponsorship from L.L.Bean dating back to the 2021 DGPT Championship.
This year’s Worlds purse will rocket past 2022 Worlds’ $200,000 prize pool, although it is still short of the record $302,000 purse from the 2022 DGPT Championship.
