Round 1 Recap

The field started the 2020 Green Mountain Championship in the woods on the Brewster Ridge course. It was the perfect weather for disc golf and the players responded with hot scores.

  • 2019 champion Sarah Hokom bested her own hot round on Brewster from last year by two strokes and is in first at 4-under par. She started her round slow, but went 4-under through the last seven holes, including the day’s only birdie on hole 13. She didn’t miss inside the circle.
  • Going the opposite trend of Hokom, Hailey King started her day bogey-free and 5-under through the opening 12 holes. Her final third of the course featured a double-bogey, however, and she finished at 3-under par in second place. After a two-putt on hole 1, King did not miss inside the circle, hitting 15 C1X putts and a 50-footer.
  • During the livestream, a pretaped interview with King mentioned she could get distracted during back-ups. She slowed down after a course slowdown on hole 13.
  • Even par came in at 971-rated and is currently good for third place. Paige Pierce, Kona Panis, and Jessica Weese are all knotted up. Pierce leads the event in fairway hits.

Statline

Hokom’s first round is unofficially rated 1005. In 22 career events where Hokom has thrown at least one round rated over 1000, she has a 68% win rate (15-for-22). She has never lost an event where she plays two rounds over 1000 (3-for-3).

The lead card of Hokom, King, Panis, and Pierce tees off at 3 pm EST.
