Corey Ellis Discraft Anax Ace Seth Burton Memorial
Tournament aces are good, rare, and hardly caught on tape. Corey Ellis did the impossible by getting two on camera in one round, but does the second cancel out the first?
Playing the third round of the Seth Burton Memorial in West Virginia, Ellis was on the feature card when he skipped his Discraft Anax short of the basket and into the chains on the 333-foot hole 3 on Orange Crush course at the Seth Burton Disc Golf Complex.
Before the adrenaline from the hole-in-one was completely out of his system, he dinged a tree on hole 7, pushing it off to the left, down a hill, and toward the wrong pin. He found chains again, just not the right ones. Honestly, we’ve never seen a cleaner tree-direct.

So if you’ve got an ace in your round, and you follow it up with a black ace, does that mean your game is firing on all cylinders, or that the higher ace beings are correcting your cosmic balance from gifting you a freebie earlier?
Either way it wasn’t enough for Ellis. He would finish second at the tournament behind Tyler Horne. Extra props for Disc Golf Examiner’s first aces caught on camera.
Correction: Corey Ellis let us know the black ace was on the same day as his ace, but during the third round. The actual ace with the Anax was during the Final 9 of the event on the third hole. Sorry for the confusion.
