The Glass Blown Open officially starts Thursday, but the days leading up to the PDGA National Tour stop have been filled with flex start events and thousands of practice rounds from the 1,500 or so competitors in town for the week.
Our first highlight from 2018 GBO comes courtesy of one of these practice rounds at the Jones East course. Advanced Women’s player Yuliya Pastovenska was teeing off on the 268-foot hole 12 and luckily had some cell phones recording. Her shot carries the water on an almost direct line towards the elevated basket before smashing chains as it hyzered back.
The ace video comes courtesy of Flying-J Productions who was running catch cam and, as you can see in the video, another person was filming from the teepad. Pastovenska — originally from Andrushivka, Ukraine, according to her PDGA player page — has been posting her own vlogs of the trip to Emporia and you can watch the shot from her point of view as well.
Pastovenska has won several events in 2018 and says this was her sixth ace.
All women’s divisions, including the Open Women, will play the same course schedule. Round one Thursday at Cottonwood Falls (Swope), round two Friday at Jones East and the final round Saturday at Peter Pan.
